Transteck, Inc.’s Easton Truck Center is a new 26,750 SF building intended to replace a similar but outdated service center facility previously located on another part of their Route 50 location. The company specializes in selling and servicing freight-related trucks of all sizes and types from manufacturers such as Freightliner, Western Star, International, and Isuzu. Willow Construction, which serves as Transteck, Inc.’s contractor as the truck dealer looks to expand their footprint along the East Coast, engaged DBF in a design-build relationship to assist in the design and construction administration of the facility.

Transteck sought to enhance their brand with the design of the facility by seeking a look that reinforces their identity as a leader in the industry, and further takes advantage of a prime location along a well-traveled highway. The building was to present a straightforward industrial style, enhanced by company colors, and eye-catching to passing travelers. Several 3D computer models were created during the design phase and a final selection was composed of a cost-effective pre-engineered building with alternating siding colors and a feature red-canopy at the center’s Parts and Service entrances. Inside, ten truck service bays were created, one of which serves as a wash bay, along with a parts’ warehouse, sales area, service counter, customer lounge, offices, and further support rooms.

Important to the project was finding the proper balance of cost and unique brand identity. DBF and Willow worked closely together during the project’s design phase to identify efficient column bay spacings and to work within standard material offerings and available color palettes. Important to the design, too, was knowing that the project represented a new prototype that would be repeated at future locations of varying conditions. Understanding this meant unique features introduced to the design needed to be easily replicated and equally effective no matter where Transteck’s future service center buildings may be located.
