Project Description

Princess Anne Subdistrict Expansion

Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc., prepared a preliminary engineering report evaluating the existing Princess Anne subdistrict water and wastewater systems. The study took into consideration projected growth in the Sanitary District service area, including residential, commercial, industrial and the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. The evaluation included recommendations for proposed improvements in the areas of water supply, storage and distribution as well as wastewater collection and conveyance.

The recommended project, of which DBF provided design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration/inspection services, consisted of two (2) deep production wells within the Patapsco Aquifer, a new 500,000 gallons elevated storage tank, water distribution system, wastewater collection, and new pump station with 3,000+ foot forcemain, as well as SCADA system improvements for better control and operations of the respective systems.

The project required coordination with multiple parties including the Somerset County Roads Department, Maryland State Highway Administration, State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Soil Conservation District, Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Commission, Maryland Department of the Environment Wetlands, Maryland Department of Natural Resources Endangered Species, and Federal Aviation Administration.
