Avery Hall Insurance, an established company serving downtown Salisbury, as well as many other areas on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, requested the design services of Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF), to redesign two areas within their existing building on East Main Street. While maintaining the exterior building footprint, a newly designed 545 SF conference room and renovations to an existing cubicle office area in the personal lines department were completed.

For the new cubicle office area design, the owner desired to maximize potential for future company growth, while also maintaining the comfort level and privacy of each employee and the customers they serve. The existing office area in the personal lines department had ten cubicle workstations and was redesigned to accommodate twelve cubicle workstations with a receptionist area at the front. Two cubicle workstations were also added to the existing accounts payable office after the removal of an existing kitchenette and closet space.

Existing cubicle workstations and a private office enclosed by partition walls were removed and relocated to make room for the newly designed conference room. Modern contemporary elements were used, enclosing the room with mostly glass to promote openness while also maintaining privacy of those utilizing the space.

After initial floor plan layouts by DBF were submitted and approved by Avery Hall for the conference room and cubicle offices in the personal lines department. Douron, Inc. was recommended by DBF to provide customized furniture floor plan layouts and oversee product installation. Gillis Gilkerson provided construction services, which included: demolition of existing kitchen plumbing and walls, installation of new electric wiring, lighting and ceiling tiles.
