CAD TECHNICIAN

Location: Milford, Delaware

OVERVIEW

At Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF), our CAD Technicians play an essential supporting role in the production of a variety of infrastructure designs. Our CAD Technicians help to enhance, maintain and protect the communities we work, live, and play in. In this role, we are looking for an individual who is a problem-solver, driven and reliable; one who will identify opportunities to improve the quality of work and services, and participate in their implementation. This position will include but not be limited to, assisting and providing support to various departments throughout the firm with the design, drafting, and development of construction drawings for infrastructure projects including water, wastewater, stormwater, and streets. Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD is required for the position.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Utilize the latest software to accurately render and communicate design, plans, and other necessary related systems and structures.
  • Perform analyses and calculations according to project requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers and surveyors regarding model accuracy, drafting standards, and design documentation.
  • Prepare project documentation for client submittal.
  • Use feedback to modify existing designs and develop solutions.
  • Provide timely technical assistance.

EDUCATION & SKILLS

The candidate should possess a high-school diploma or GED. The preferred candidate will have two (2) years of experience with basic site design including grading and drainage, utilities, and erosion control design. Two (2) years of direct work utilizing AutoCAD and construction drawing preparation is preferred.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate should be:

Detail Oriented – Ability to exercise attention to detail and have a solid understanding of how buildings and sites are designed and constructed.

Creative – Ability to innovate and develop creative solutions within the built environment.

An Effective Communicator – Ability to clearly communicate ideas, actively listen, and ask appropriate questions.

A Critical Thinker – Ability to problem solve, make good decisions, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
