Greensboro Elementary School
Greensboro Elementary School is a new state-of-the-art, nearly 98,000 square feet on a 39-acre site. Designed to accommodate 818 students, grades Pre-K through 5th, the new school features 42 flexible instructional classrooms and specialty classrooms including music, art, media center and technology lab, flexible breakout rooms, a gymnasium, cafeteria, guidance suite, school health suite, and a community health center.
Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF), provided structural engineering services for the design and construction of Greensboro Elementary School for the prime architect, Hord, Coplan Macht, Inc., on behalf of Caroline County Public Schools and the State of Maryland.
Our structural team provided complete design services including, construction drawings and bid specifications for this project. The construction documents were prepared in REVIT, building information modeling format. The structural design software used for the project is RISA-3D which integrates with REVIT. Structural engineering services also included bid support and review of all structural submittals including poured in place concrete, concrete reinforcing, unit masonry, masonry reinforcing, structural steel, steel bar joists, metal decking, cold form steel curtain walls, and cold-formed steel roof trusses.
