Project Description

Milton Fire Station 85

With the area continuing to grow, the Milton Fire Department sought to expand station #85 to keep pace with the influx of emergency calls. The Milton Fire Department contracted DBF to study the existing fire station to determine the maximum footprint achievable. A feasibility study was conducted which determined that renovating the existing property was the most cost-effective option due to the station’s central location.

The renovation and addition of the firehouse doubled the square footage of the original station from 12,422 SF to 26,132 SF and incorporated a sloped gable roof to replace the existing flat roof. The firehouse encompasses an enlarged engine bay that holds four pieces of equipment; a new engine bay to hold two additional apparatuses; new bunk rooms, training rooms, and restrooms; laundry, recreational, and kitchen accommodations for volunteer firefighters, and paid EMS staff; as well as new administrative offices.

DBF provided full-service architecture, civil and structural engineering, and surveying services for this project.
